Sonica is an electronic music collective that organizes parties, and is turning three years. To celebrate, I was asked to create an animation with classical style sculptures. All of the sculptures represented the party in some way, or were characters from animations I had made for Sonica in the past.
It was an interesting challenge to create sculptures and let go of colors and textures I was used to work with when modeling characters in Blender. Every detail of the model became important, and I searched inspiration for the poses from classical style sculptures. Creating these modern day sculptures was a lot of fun.
For the promotional animation I created a gallery that is a mix of a warehouse and a greenhouse. The building lets a lot of natural light in and the camera encounters the sculptures one by one.
In addition I created two posters for the daytime and nighttime events.
The modeling of the sculptures was done in Blender, and the gallery and animation were done in Unreal Engine 5.

One of the sculptures represented the dj's, musicians and all technology that goes into organizing an electronic music event.

The final instagram reel to promote the event
Below: animated posters for the daytime and nighttime events. Sonica´s main events are organized in open air during the summer time in "El Jardín de las Artes". March marks the return to the garden, so the sculptures are shown in a flower field.
Below: some of the early sketches for the space and for the sculptures. The biggest challenge was to make the space feel light and airy, but keeping the white sculptures still visible to the camera.
